An Art Exposition of 6 fine art photographic canvases and a painted wall mural of one of those images, Amanecer, representing 5 years of travel in Baja Sur
Fine art photographer, Ellen Atkin, first came to the Baja in 2008 to spend the winter. She intended it to be only a season but the tiny town of La Ventana, the people, the freedom and the geography kept her coming back.
Ellen first began producing large format panoramic photographic art in the Baja. In 2009 she teamed up with 2 Mexican photographers, Marcela Resendez and Luisa Dorbecker to produce an outdoor billboard, “Las Cascades” at Baja Cantina in Cabo San Lucas. Since then she has produced over 30 Fine Art Photographic Panoramas of the Baja, from Ensenada to Cabo Pulmo.
The show, Baja Remembers, is a sample from those images. Each fine art canvas is gallery wrapped on 1.25 inch stretcher bars. On display for an indefinite run at Playa Central in La Ventana, the opening is Saturday, November 24th, from 5pm to 7pm. This is a double show opening for the wall mural Ellen painted at Bandidos Bar & Grill in El Sargento, which is an impressionistic depiction of the image, “Amanecer”.In the summer, Ellen returns to her native Canada where she continues her career as an aerial fine art photographer. In the winter she shoots action images of kiteboarders and windsurfers in La Ventana, Baja Sur, Mexico.
